Love on Girard: Get Sweet on Local Shops
Now that Romancing the Walk and other Northern Liberties specials are in full swing, we'd like to point out that Girard Avenue is also vying for your Valentine-time attention.
Love on Girard is coming on strong this week with the independent businesses and neighborhood anchors that line West Girard from Frankford Avenue to Franklin Street. So if you're still in need of gifts or beauty treatments, you'll find plenty of options here. Members of Hyperion Bank should enter the drawing to win a $50 gift certificate for nearby restaurants. Quince Fine Foods will include a handmade card with an order of chocolates. It's a Cupcake has recently moved its shop to Girard Avenue and will celebrate its grand reopening today. Enjoy 10% off a dozen and take them in for your coworkers. Our favorite? At Bonnie & Clyde Tattoo, if you purchase one tattoo, your partner's tat will be half price. That sure beats a dozen red stems.

More Valentine’s Specials in the City of Love
Valentine's Day in Liberties Walk and the Piazza is just heating up. Keeping in mind all of the Romancing the Walk specials that we wrote about last week, now we have some new additions to the menu.
At Bar Ferdinand, check out the "Dia de Valentino" $30 prix fixe brunch or the $65 & $75 prix fixe dinner menu. The offerings are posted on their website.
Darling's Diner will be selling heart-shaped cheesecakes in personal or full sizes. Try the Belgian Chocolate Mousse variety if you really want to woo somebody. They'll also host a Lovers Brunch and Lovers Dinner.
What happens when over 100 Philadelphia artists decide to celebrate Valentine's Day? The Group Heart Show at Jinxed/Toothless Cat Gallery in the Piazza on February 13. If you're the card-buying type, there's no shame in choosing one here, because there will be custom Valentines from each artist. Check out the list at Jinxed Philadelphia.
And if you're looking for something even less common, the Louella Press folks at Pressed 55 present the Letterpress Voodoo Kit. Pick one up now at Pressed 55 in the Piazza, 1050 N. Hancock Street.
Romancing the Walk, February 8-14
Valentine's Week in Liberties Walk will be a lengthy affair if you hit all the right spots. Starting on February 8, a bunch of your favorite Northern Liberties shops remind you why you love them, with tempting specials and events, all at 1040 N. 2nd Street. These are the businesses that shape the neighborhood and make living here a more intimate experience.
As an added touch, each participating store will be selling $5 raffles to benefit the American Heart Association's GO RED FOR WOMEN Campaign. The winner receives a romantic night for two at the Kimpton Palomar, a boutique LEED-certified hotel located downtown. The spankin' new hotel interior reminds us of Northern Liberties, a modern lobby with fun, original artwork. Stay there and make us jealous, but come back to us when you're done.
Heart-shaped pizza from Home Slice. Ladies night at the Velvet Lily. Free dog portraits and couples photos at the newly-opened Heather Fowler Photography Studio. Not everyone lives for Valentine's Day, but who doesn't love champagne and dessert for $5 at Bar Ferdinand? That's a hot ten minutes right there.
