What’s up with…Bells Corner/Rhawnhurst
Bells Corner/Rhawnhurst is a Northeast neighborhood in between Pennypack Park and Cottman Avenue. Among the busy intersections and high schools that attract students from all over North Philadelphia, are many shopping centers, including Bell's Corner Shopping Center, the Cottman Bustleton Center, and the Roosevelt Mall.
The area used to be known as Fox Chase until the name Rhawnhurst spread in the 1950's. Bells Corner was taken from a major stable at Pennypack Park. The barn is still used by the Pegasus Riding Academy. Twin homes and duplexes line the residential streets.
