It's typically characterized by slews of brick rowhomes, twins, Boulevards, Avenues, and large strip malls. But there is a lot going on NE...and we thought we'd give a little shout out to something new.

The only open mic night in the Northeast. Philadelphia, that is.

It's going down every Thursday from 8- 11pm at TD's Irish Pub at 7770 Dungan Rd. So gather your best Northeast accent and let it out there.

Well...we never though of the Northeast as a prime open mic destination, but it could be! What are your favorite things to do in the NE?

Holmesburg is a Northeast neighborhood and site of Pennypark Park. The popular barbecue joint, Sweet Lucy’s Smokehouse serves up plenty of comfort food to the neighborhood.

Historic sites in Holmesburg include the Pennypack Theatre building and the oldest surviving bridge in the nation that is still in use, the Frankford Avenue Bridge.

Mayfair is a neighborhood tucked in the Northeast. The family-centric neighborhood introduced the concept of larger homes with yard and lawn space to the area.

There are many shopping centers in the vicinity. Locals enjoy skating at Jamz Roller Skating Center. The Devon Theater is a place to check out performing arts after tasting the famous tomato pie from Tony's Place or having a meal at the original Chickie's and Pete's, where you'll find many dedicated fans watching sports games.
