The Foodery Beer Academy Hits Northern Liberties, Center City, and West Philly
This Thursday, instead of your traditional happy hour, come over to Cantina Dos Segundos for some real training. The wise beer gods of the Foodery have started a roving Beer Academy, inviting curious drinkers to try 12 styles of beer to better educate their tasting skills. You'll learn how to describe beer flavors and become more adventurous at the bar. The one hour class costs $15 per person and you can pick up tickets there or at either Foodery location.
The first event will be in Northern Liberties, but they'll be wheeling classes to Local 44 in West Philadelphia (one of our favorites) on Saturday and Nodding Head in Center City the following Saturday. Here is the schedule:
Thursday, Feb 18 4pm; Dos Segundos : 931 N 2nd St : 215-629-0500
Saturday, Feb 20 3pm; Local 44 : 4333 Spruce St : 215-222-2337
Saturday, Feb 27 1pm; Nodding Head : 1516 Samson : 215-569-9525
You can find more event details on Facebook. If only college had been this interesting. We hope to see you there.
What’s Brewing at Yards: The Tasting Room
There's a new place to enjoy a pale ale in Northern Liberties. Last week, Yards Brewing Company opened up a tasting room, where customers can hang out and get an early start on drinking their purchases. Head on over to the Brewery at 901 N. Delaware Ave. for your next happy hour. The riverside watering hole will be open from noon to 7 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Need a little more satisfaction with that? There will be sandwiches and chili on site to accompany all of that ale.
The best part about the last week of January? Yard's Love Stout arrives in February. Even more reason to amble on over there.
