You Can Huff and Puff Over Our Brick Picks!

We all know the story of The Three Little Pigs and that it did not bode so well for the pigs who built their houses out of straw and sticks. But the big bad wolf? He could not blow down the third pig's brick house.  Why? Because brick is strong, smart, and classic.

There are homes out there that are just not built to last, but solid brick homes can stand strong for a long time if maintained well. We have a few brick listings that particularly stand out, and even something for those with a modern brick taste, so read on for our Brick Picks!

1140-44 N. Orianna Street and 1146 N Orianna Street is a series of  New Construction brick homes in Northern Liberties. These 4 Story 3 Bedroom Homes are simply stunning with enclosed private rear yards and square footage ranging up to 3,000 sf.  The neutral brick on these homes is sleek and subtle, incredibly clean-looking.

2415 S. Reese Street (at left) is a completely updated brick 2 Bedroom Home in South Philadelphia. It has a private rear yard and a nicely maintained and handsome brick front.

1903 N 2nd Street (at right) is a 3 Story 4 Bedroom Rehabbed Home in Old Kensington with a rear yard. In addition to a brick exterior, it also features some interior brick.

Tip Jar: Don’t Get Locked Out Again

Let me paint a picture for you...

You are waiting all day for that important call. You step outside, close the door behind you and you hear the phone ringing on the other side. You realize, OMG I locked myself out!
or
You finished your BIG GULP super sized cola an hour ago and you really gotta GO! You get to the front door knowing the bathroom is only steps away. But OMG, where are my keys?!
or
You just walked up 4 flights of stair with a week's worth of groceries in your arms including your favorite Cherry Garcia Ben & Jerry's slowly melting away in one of the bags when you realize, OMG, I left my keys inside!

I can go on with hundreds of stories like this. I have only had to spend a few hundred bucks to hire a locksmith to let me into my condo twice before I figured out how to remedy my forgetfulness. The cure is: LOCKBOX.

You can find them at Lowes and Home Depot for about $30. Some hook like a Master Lock and others can be screwed onto a surface. You set your secret combo, drop the key inside and say goodbye to those OMG moments when you are Locked Out Again!

Invest in Family-Friendly Port Richmond

When we think of Port Richmond, we think of a family-friendly community of engaged neighbors sweeping their streets and decorating their homes for every holiday.

3105 Cedar Street is one of those homes. It has been owned and loved by the same family for 50 years! The property is solid! It has a 5 year old heater and a NEW Roof over the kitchen, with sub floors that are solid wood under the carpets throughout and pristine walls behind the paneling.

And it was built for major family time, too...with a large open first floor and a huge eat in kitchen. The cement rear yard has flower beds for those with a green thumb. The basement is dry with high ceilings offering an opportunity for the new owner to add tons of living space if turned into a finished basement. Laundry hook up in the basement. The 2nd floor master bedroom is large with 2 smaller bedrooms and a hall bath.
