Our Essential Guide to the Northern Liberties Picnic

There's no better place for a picnic in Northern Liberties than Liberty Lands Park. For one thing, alcoholic beverages are permitted (you can read the park guidelines at NLNA), and yes, there happens to be an amazing beer boutique just a few blocks away.

• After selecting a few bottles at the Foodery and perhaps a sandwich from their deli or the grapes and cheese to go, head over to the well-groomed and super friendly park.

• Pick a sunny day for the best crowd-watching and claim your spot.  We vote for this weekend. You can even reserve a picnic table or the grill ahead of time if you'd like.

• Make sure your feet are sandal-ready with a pedi from Genesis Salon. (Take him along, too, why should you get to have all the spring beauty ritual fun?)

• Show them off in a pair of casual open-toed sandals from Arcadia Boutique.

• If you bring the dog or kids along, have a way of keeping them entertained and plenty of treats.

• Pack a blanket, sunscreen, sunglasses, something to read or listen to, and you're all set.

• Capture an amazing photo of the sunset, your puppy, or your partner when they aren't watching...

• And our favorite way to end a picnic? On the way home, refresh with some tangy frozen yogurt from Palm Tree Market.
