The Barstool Olympics: A Little Bit of Canada in Philadelphia

Ready for the 2010 Winter Olympics?

Wherever you are in Philly, there's a Barstool Olympics event happening close to you. Starting today, through February 28, five bars will represent their neighborhoods in a competition to see who can sell the most $3 Molsons. We're sure they've been training hard all winter.

What exactly are these pubs striving for? There are no medals. The event is actually a fundraiser for the Fraternal Order of Police Survivors Fund, which goes to the families of officers lost in the line of duty. In addition to the Canadian beer special, each bar will be offering themed food specials (bring on the Canadian bacon and "curling" fries). The following bars will be slinging good-cause beers with much tenacity for the next two weeks:

The Swift Half Pub in Northern Liberties
New Wave Cafe in Queen Village
South Philly Bar & Grill in, you guessed it, South Philadelphia
Smiths Restaurant and Lounge in Rittenhouse Square
Kite and Key Tavern on Callowhill in Art Museum/Fairmount

So go support your neighborhood, your policemen, and your Winter Games spirit. May the best Canadian-beer-selling bar win.
